PURE SPEED, MORE POWER
Exclusively on GIGABYTE Powered Motherboards
The Intel® USB 3.1 controller utilizes four PCIe Gen3 Lanes, offering up to 32 Gb/s total bandwidth, for uncompromised transfer speeds of up to 10 Gb/s per USB 3.1. With twice the bandwidth compared to its previous generation, and backwards compatibility with USB 2.0 and 3.0, the much improved USB 3.1 protocol is available over the new reversible USB Type-C™ and the traditional USB Type-A connector for better compatibility over a wider range of devices.
100W USB Type-C™
Power and Charge From USB Type-C With Power Delivery 2.0 Support
Redesigned to take full advantage of all the features that USB Type-C can support, GIGABYTE's new Z170 motherboards with Intel's USB 3.1 controller not only supports USB 2.0, 3.0, and 3.1, but also completely supports Power Delivery 2.0. This means users are able to get up to 100 watts through their Intel powered USB Type-C port. This opens the door for users looking to clean up their cable cutter and power or recharge their devices through this universal connector, the Type-C Port.
2-Way SLI™ / CrossFire™ Multi-Graphics
Multi-graphics configuration offers better graphics performance for gaming enthusiasts who demand the highest frame rates without compromising on resolution.
GIGABYTE Design By spacing the graphics cards in multi-graphics configurations, users are now able to obtain maximum airflow between cards.Support for DDR4 XMP Up to 3866MHz and Beyond*
GIGABYTE is offering a tested and proven platform that ensures proper compatibility with profiles up to 3866MHz and beyond. All users need to do to attain this performance boost is to ensure that their memory module is XMP capable and that the XMP function is activated and enabled on their GIGABYTE motherboard.
What is XMP?
DDR4 memory modules are available at a stock frequency of 2133MHz, but as frequency tweaking requires a considerable amount of effort and knowledge, memory vendors encode XMP profiles which can automatically modify the timings of the supported memory modules to work with your CPU and to achieve increased performance.
*XMP Profile support may vary depending on memory module. Please visit www.gigabyte.com to see the complete validated memory support list.

Pros: Works for nine months.
Cons: I had this motherboard for nine months and until then it worked fine. Never had much issue. Tried to turn it on one day and a voltage regulator started protruding smoke, and could have possibly ruined my other components. Not worth the risk.
Other Thoughts: Save your money and look elsewhere. It would be better to spend more for a longer and ultimately better motherboard than to share the experience I have faced with this one.
Pros: Fairly easy setup, and was hoping for the reliability of the Gigabyte name
Cons: System started ignoring the shutdown command; Windows would close but drive light kept blinking and never would power off without one-finger salute. Began shutting itself off at about the 1-year mark, then would not power back up without removing power to the power supply completely for a few minutes, then plugging back in. Even on power up it would completely ignore an attached WD Black SATA drive until the 6th or 7th restart. Attempting to get Gigabyte warranty support has not been favorable.
Other Thoughts: Wish I could give negative eggs. I've been a Gigabyte fan for a long time, but never really had to use their warranty support. I'll be looking for another motherboard maker. I have a user that will be down for at least a couple of weeks waiting for replacement...not customer focused at all!

Pros: -Nice red leds and nice BIOS interface
Cons: -Had to tried 3 different Gen of Proccessor to be able to upgrade bios to use the supposely compatible Processor.
-After using 5 different CD/DVD of OS and even put them on 2 different USB drive to try installing any Windows(7,8,10) and always crash 1 sec on the loading of the Windows.
-over 20 hours of testings with 3 peoples with good knowledges with PC and never met this kind of issue before.
Other Thoughts: -GIGABYTE used to be a great company but from what i heard and also just see from testing from the DDR4 gen boards they make is completety full of issue and incompatibility compared to others brands i tested so far for DDR4 gen boards. I'll try to contact them and if it still not contact me i'll refund the board and make sure to never buy from them ever.
Pros: The LEDs are nice and the beefyness of the the slots for ram and PCIe. A lot of ports and slots. Decent price point.
Cons: Wish it had more USB C ports.
Update: 1-21-2018 After trouble shooting on and off for a year on why my PC would not shut down after going to the start menu and selecting 'shutdown' . The PC would 'shutdown' but turn back in after about 3 seconds went by. Installed new a motherboard today (1-21-2018): https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130969 and the restart issue is gone. Only thing I can think of was there was some type of electrical issue with the Gigabyte motherboard from the factory. If you have a restart issue and you have this motherboard switch it out.
Pros: Was fine when it was working.
Cons: Quit working after 9 months of use. Computer would not turn on when pushing power button. Computer was only used for surfing web, emails etc. and was not overclocked.
Other Thoughts: Do not buy this junk. Replaced with MSI Z270 Gaming Plus and computer is running way better than the Gigabyte ever did.

Pros: - The LED bars look pretty when they light up
Cons: - No support for new Intel processors out of the box, and no way to update the BIOS without a CPU installed
- RMA'd the first one I got back. Second one I got was also DoA and will not post at all, even with a Celeron I bought specifically just to update the BIOS to be able to use my i7 processor.
- No speaker on the mobo. I guess this is more commonplace nowadays but I had to buy a small speaker just to see if I was getting any beeps at all. I only get beeps if no RAM is installed, otherwise it's total silence. That's REAL helpful when troubleshooting a new build...
- No display output at all if the board isn't posting. Which mine isn't.
Other Thoughts: I've been trying to finish my build for over a month. I've gotten two of these boards and both are dead. I tried to get in touch with Gigabyte, but there is no support phone number. So I signed up for the online support, got the confirmation email - and their support website doesn't even work. I get 'Login Fail' with no other explanation.
This motherboard is absolute garbage and the support is nonexistent. I will never buy another Gigabyte product for as long as I live.

Pros: good sound , lots of usb ports many way to connect SSD's. lots of fan connections and speed is adjustable from bios. works with windows 10 so far no extra drivers to install that i know of yet.
Gigabyte Gaming Gt Z170 Raid Controller Drivers
Cons: Didn't work out of the box, had to update bios to get a skylake '7th generation Intel 1151' processor to work . ah but you cant up date the bios on this board unless the CPU is in and working, had to buy a '6th generation Intel 1151' just to load it with a USB stick. the post code speaker beep is the only clue you get that the 7th gen CPU does not work, 5 long beeps.
Other Thoughts: if they were to make it so the bios could be up dated with out a CPU working that would be great. could stop a lot of RMA's
this is the first time i had this problem with a Gigabyte mother board. older boards have worked great for me.
